ROTTED WOOD REPAIR

Rotted wood can often be repaired for a fraction of the cost of replacing
entire window or doors unit.

Here's an example of a rotted window sill on a vintage house (circa 1906)
that I recently repaired.

Entryways are also prone to rotted wood damage. The following series
of photos shows a rotted wood repair I recently completed on the front
entryway of a more modern house. Replacing the entire unit would have
cost thousands of dollars more than the repair!

The first photo shows the rotted wood damage caused by rainwater seeping
past cracked caulking and collecting at bottom near the door threshold.

The next photo was taken after the rotted wood was completely removed.

The new, replacement wood was coated to repel water damage, fastened with stainless steel screws and laminated to the original solid wood.

This last picture shows how the entryway looked good as new after
the rotted wood was been replaced and painted.

The leaking caulk was also repaired to protect against future wood rot.
